Updates To 2021 Project MUSE Journal Collections
By Project MUSE
Project MUSE is pleased to announce four additional titles that will be joining its Premium Collection of journals for 2021. Acta Koreana, Labour History: A Journal of Labour and Social History, Urban History Review, and The Yale Review join two previously-announced titles - The French Review and Tang Studies - bringing the total number of new additions to the Premium Collection to six journals.
Selected titles have been added to other MUSE journal collections as well, including:
Standard Collection: The Comparatist, Studies in Romanticism
Basic Research Collection: Acta Musicologica, Studies in Romanticism
Basic College Collection: ariel: A Review of International English Literature
Humanities Collection: Christianity & Literature, Hitchcock Annual
Title Status Changes
As announced in May 2020, Project MUSE froze pricing for all of the MUSE Journal Collections for the 2021 calendar year subscription term. One of the consequences of the decision to keep collection prices flat for 2021 is that Project MUSE will not be able to incorporate new titles into its journal collections as is usual, only replace for attrition. The title additions detailed above will offset attrition from titles that will no longer be contributing new issues to MUSE due to a change in status.
Two titles, Anthropologica and Canadian Journal of Information and Library Science, are transitioning to a fully open access model beginning in 2021. All previous issues of these titles currently available on MUSE will be made open access on the MUSE platform, freely available to anyone worldwide. Future issues of CJILS will be available OA on the Erudit platform. Further information on future plans for Anthropologica is not yet available.
Other titles that will no longer contribute new issues to MUSE beginning in 2021 include Leonardo Music Journal, which is being retired as a separate publication, and with content to be included in the journal Leonardo going forward. (See the MIT Press announcement for more information.) English Literature in Transition, 1880-1920, has ceased publication. East Asian Science, Technology and Society: an International Journal has been acquired by a commercial publisher. All previous issues of these journals which are currently on MUSE will remain on the platform and accessible to libraries with subscriptions to collections that included the titles.
